Out of the office traveling for business? It can be nice to step away from your desk for a bit, but if you’re missing important phone calls and emails, it can be stressful. We’re here to provide you with some helpful tips on how to best stay connected while you’re away from your desk.

Forward your calls.

If you have a unified communications phone system at your place of work, then you have the option of forwarding incoming calls to your desk phone straight to your mobile phone. By forwarding your phone, you’ll be able to receive all voicemails and incoming calls just as if you were sitting at your desk.

Connect your email to your mobile device.

This is quite possibly the easiest way to stay connected while you’re traveling for business. Most email servers are very easy to connect to your mobile device nowadays and you’ll never miss a beat.

Save and work from a Cloud.

Will you be working on files that are too large to email? The safest way to ensure that those in the office are getting the information they need in order to keep business moving, is to work from a Cloud. Before you leave the office for business travel, connect your devices to Cloud software. There are many different programs to choose from, so choose the one that has the right amount of space for your files and that is compatible with all of your devices. When co-workers have access to the same Cloud, file sharing and uploading is easy!

Scope out Wi-Fi hotspots in advance.

Whether you’re working from a different city or country, it is important to map out locations with free Wi-Fi. Most hotels now offer free Wi-Fi to guests, but it’s always best to check ahead of time. If you don’t like working from your hotel, find coffee shops, restaurants, or even public parks with Wi-Fi that will make your work away from home just as productive as if you were in the office.
